Signal Centers, Inc. has always depended upon community volunteers to support and enhance the learning and teaching environment since we began offering services over fifty years ago.  Volunteer opportunities abound within each of our Programs.  Whether it be a community volunteer sharing experiences with clients about a recent trip to Ireland as part of the Adult Center's St. Patrick's Day activities, a college student completing service learning in Early Childhood Education or in Engineering, or an AmeriCorps VISTA member working alongside agency staff, Signal Centers appreciates each and every one of our volunteers.  If you are interested in joining our volunteer team, please read below to find a sampling of needs:

The Adult Center:
   Arts and Crafts

Marketing/PR Assistant

This AmeriCorps VISTA Member will work on increasing the ability and capacity of Signal Centers to effectively fulfill its mission throughout the community via marketing and fundraising efforts.  Additionally, Members will be expected to assist with database research and community outreach.  Qualified candidates should be detail-oriented and possess strong computer, people, written, and verbal skills.  Graphic/web design experience is preferred.  AmeriCorps VISTA Members are placed with non-profit organizations that work with children and adults with disabilities state-wide.  VISTA Members work to build the capacity of the individual organizations where they serve and collaborate with other VISTA Members on the development of resources, trainings, and related projects.

PROGRAM BENEFITS:  Child care assistance (if eligible), living allowance, health coverage, and choice of education award of end-of-service stipend.

TERMS: Paid work outside the sponsoring agency during time of service is prohibited.  This position is a one year commitment.

SKILLS:  Communication, public speaking, writing, editing, and those mentioned above in the job description.
